Veterans Crisis Line

A free, confidential hotline offering round-the-clock mental health crisis support for military-connected individuals, including active service members, Veterans, National Guard and Reserve members, and their families. No enrollment in VA benefits is required to access services.

The Veterans Crisis Line provides immediate assistance to anyone experiencing emotional or mental health distress. Support is available through three channels: phone (dial 988 then press 1), online chat, or text (838255). All services operate continuously throughout the year with trained responders who listen and help callers identify next steps. The line serves not only Veterans but also active-duty service members, National Guard and Reserve personnel, and their support networks. Callers maintain control over what information they share, and all conversations remain private. After initial contact, responders help connect individuals with additional community resources and support systems. For those overseas, region-specific phone numbers are available depending on the military command area from which you are calling.
