Scheduling a Funeral at Arlington National Cemetery
Arlington National Cemetery provides funeral scheduling services for eligible service members and their families. The process involves contacting the customer service center, submitting required documentation to verify eligibility, and working with cemetery staff to arrange the service. Processing time varies based on document availability, remains type, and military resources.
To schedule a funeral service at Arlington National Cemetery, families or funeral homes should call the customer service center at 877-907-8585 to receive a case number and submit required documentation. Cemetery staff will verify that the deceased service member meets eligibility requirements before scheduling can proceed. All required documents must be submitted before a service date will be confirmed.
Required documentation includes the most recent DD214 (or service equivalent) showing honorable discharge, a death certificate, and a cremation certificate if applicable. For cremated remains, families must validate that the urn contains 100 percent of the decedent's remains. All documents must match the information on the DD214, and any discrepancies should be corrected through the appropriate military branch's board of corrections.
Documents can be submitted by fax or email to arlingtoncemetery.isb@army.mil with the assigned case number. The cemetery is open daily from 8am to 5pm. It is the family's responsibility to gather and provide all eligibility documentation; scheduling will not occur until everything is received. Families should be prepared with all documents before making the initial call to expedite the process.
